The sister of Lamine Diawara, a famous Malian center that played at six FIBA Africa Championships, Djene Diawara is a strong player inside who has great quickness and scores with great efficiency around the basket. The starting center of the National Team, Diawara was the best rebounder of the 2007 FIBA Africa Championship, averaging 8.8 per game. She also did well in the scoring department, pouring in 11.1 per contest as Mali sprung a big surprise by capturing gold ahead of Senegal. Djene had a strong season with Limoges ABC, a French second division club, scoring 12.2 points with 10.0 rebounds per game.
