Micaela has been a member of the Brazil rotation since the 2006 FIBA World Championship. Previously, injuries had disrupted her international career. In China six years ago, she hurt herself at the start of the FIBA World Championship and did not play a single minute. Then in 2004, she suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury. That prevented her from participating at the Olympics. Last year at the FIBA America Championship in Chile, the TTT Riga forward who averaged 10.0 points and 3.9 rebounds in the EuroLeague Women this season, was the team's second leading scorer with an excellent percentage (59%), and the third best rebounder. At 29, she should be the team’s starting small forward for the foreseeable future.
