Anete was named FIBA Europe Women’s player of the Year in 2007 as a result of her remarkable
former Latvian basketball star, Andris Jekabsonse, who won a silver medal at the 1986 FIBA World Championship with the USSR team. On the court, she can do just about anything. At last year’s EuroBasket Women, she had impressive statistics, finishing second in scoring (17.2 points) and fifth in assists (3.0 assists per game). She played over 35 minutes per contest and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Anete has been the real leader of the Latvian National Team, willing to take the big shots and also to lock-down the opponents’ best player.
