In 1993, Du entered Wulumuqi sports school in Xinjiang and then joined the Guangdong Winnerway basketball club in 1996. He and his teammate, Zhu Fangyu, are called "twin-stars". In 2001, Du became a player for National Team. He is an excellent mid-range shooter. Du is agile and is known for being able to cope with pressure. The stronger the opponent is, the better he plays.
