Unlike his twin brother Ksystof Lavrinovic, Darjus has been slowed by major injuries in his career that have prevented him from joining his brother in the National Team for long periods. Lavrinovic had back-to-back serious knee injuries a few years ago and this spring, he was forced to undergo back surgery to land on Lithuania coach Ramunas Butautas’ doubful players list. A bad knee forced him to miss the Athens Olympics and back problems left trip to Bejing in question. Butautus would love to have a fit Darjus Lavrinovic, that’s for sure. He shot 61.7% from the floor at EuroBasket 2007, averaging 6.6 points and three rebounds in 15 minutes per game. Lavrinovic is a threat from three-point range, drilling 46.2% (six of 13) in Spain.
