Career: Estudiantes Bahia Blanca (Argentina-Liga Nacional, 1996-98), Reggio Calabria (Italy-A2, 1998-99), Reggio Calabria (Italy-A1, 1999-2000), Kinder Bologna (Italy-A1, 2000-02), San Antonio Spurs (USA-NBA, 2002-08).

An ankle injury nearly prevented Manu Ginobili from returning to the Olympics but he recovered in time and was named in Sergio Hernandez’s team. Ginobili averaged 19.5 points, 4.8 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 2007-08 – the best regular season of his career – but in the play-offs he got hurt and was a mere shadow of the player who is the most famous basketball player ever to hail from Argentina. Shooting 35% and looking slow, Bahia Blanca’s favourite son was a non-factor against the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA semi-finals. There were concerns that he would not play this summer. Coach Sergio Hernandez provided relief to an entire nation when he spoke about his star after including Ginobili in his final squad on July 17. "I see Manu, in every aspect, in excellent condition,” Hernandez said. “He seems more confident every time. He has improved so much from his injury that you see him really happy."
