Career: Barcelona (Spain-ACB, 1997-2001), Memphis Grizzlies (NBA, 2001-08), Los Angeles Lakers (2008). Selected in the first round of the 2001 NBA draft (#3), by the Atlanta Hawks.
Pau Gasol’s list of achievements is very long. An NBA All Star, Gasol was given a new life in the league when in mid-season the Memphis Grizzlies traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers. Gasol ended up reaching the NBA Finals where LA lost to Boston. Gasol was the top scorer at EuroBasket 2003 and at the 2004 Olympic Games, while at the 2006 FIBA World Championship, he was voted MVP. Last year, he had hoped to win gold in Madrid but Spain lost to Russia in a thrilling final. Gasol is a formidable low-post player where he combines his athleticism and height for awesome moves, including a battery of reverses and hooks. He is also a very dangerous one-on-one player thanks to his ball-handling skills and good first step. If Gasol is an excellent shot-blocker, he's not particularly tough on defense. Gasol is a very good rebounder.
