Robert Garrett was very effective for Dirk Bauermann at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament. A former German league scoring champion, Garrett was able to either to score on drives for pop from long range. In Athens, he buried a couple of three-pointers in a decisive 12-0 third-quarter run against Puerto Rico that helped Germany clinch the last place on offer at the Beijing Games. Garrett is a role player who can provide an offensive spark off the bench. He isn’t known for his defense but played it well enough to get minutes under coach Bauermann for three years at Bamberg. When Garrett is in the game, he will be asked to punish opponents for concentrating too much on stopping his good friend Dirk Nowitzki.
