Marko Popovic comes off the bench for Jasmin Repesa but is without question one of his most valuable players in the squad and is usually on the floor late in games. A lethal shooter from long range, Popovic can play at either guard position. It’s easy to see where Popovic gets his stroke. His father, Petar Popovic, played for Zadar and was considered one of the best shooters in the former Yugoslavia. Marko grew up in Zadar and spent one year in the United States, playing in Junior College. In 2003, he left Zadar to finish the season with Pamesa Valencia. He returned to Croatia to play at Cibona Zagreb for one year and then joined Efes Pilsen. Since 2006, he has played for Zalgiris Kaunas. Popovic was an important member of the Croatia team that won all four games at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament to earn a spot in Beijing.
