Career: Joventut (Spain-ACB, 1997-2000), Real Madrid (Spain-ACB, 2000-02), Utah Jazz (NBA, 2002-05), Akasvayu Girona (Spain-ACB, 2005-06), Real Madrid (Spain-ACB, 2006-08). Selected in the first round of the 2001 NBA draft (#24), by the Utah Jazz.
Some wondered if Raul Lopez would ever make it back into Spain’s National Team after having his NBA career cut short with the Utah Jazz by two serious knee injuries. After a year at Akasvayu Girona, Lopez moved to Real Madrid and played a vital role as the giants captured the ACB title in 2007. Yet he was unlucky not to make the Spain squad for the EuroBasket as then coach Pepu Hernandez wanted to keep the team that won the gold medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship together. Lopez is a solid and intelligent playmaker who can score when needed. He is ecstatic to be back in the National Team.
