Career: Ferro Carril Oeste (Argentina, 1995-98), Gijon (Spain-LEB, 1998-2000), Tau Vitoria (Spain-ACB, 2000-07), Houston Rockets (USA-NBA, 2007-2008)
After a promising NBA season with the Houston Rockets that ended with the club’s usual first-round elimination, Scola watched his former team Tau Ceramica win the ACB title back in Spain. Don’t think for a minute that Scola, who loved his time in Spain, regretted his move to the US. After dominating in Europe for years, Scola finally brought his game to the NBA at the age of 27. Thought by many not to be a good fit for the NBA game, he struggled from November to January but finally discovered his rhythm in February. Scola ended up with a solid rookie average of 10.6 points and 6.2 rebounds. In the play-offs against the physical Carlos Boozer of Utah and Team USA, Scola averaged 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds.
