Career: Vitoria (Spain-ACB, 1995-2000), Treviso (Italy-Lega, 2000-04), Málaga (Spain-ACB, 2004-06), Toronto Raptors (NBA, 2006-08)
Jorge Garbajosa may not be the captain of Spain but he would be an excellent choice if Carlos Jimenez did not already have the honour. When asked recently what his team is, he said he only had one team and that was the national side. Garbajosa battled back from a serious leg injury to play at EuroBasket 2007 but missed virtually the entire 2007-08 NBA season with the Toronto Raptors after an operation on his ankle and leg. When Aito Garcia Reneses named him in the squad, a lot of people were surprised but considering Garbajosa has been the glue of the team for several years, he was always a certainty. The player’s most famous moment in a Spain shirt came in the final of the 2006 FIBA World Championship when he scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a blow-out win over Greece.
