BEIJING (Olympics) – China’s Sun Yue on Sunday night was playing against Kobe Bryant of Team USA at the Olympics.
The two could be Los Angeles Lakers teammates next season.
Team officials with the Lakers confirmed earlier in the day that the team had agreed to general terms on a contract with the point guard.
The NBA club “hope to finalize the terms and formally sign Sun soon,” said a statement on the club’s website.
The Lakers drafted Sun in the second round of the 2007 NBA draft at number 40.
The 22-year-old Sun remained with his club team Beijing Aoshen last season before joining up with China for the Olympic preparations.
