Situated in the southwest part of downtown Haining, the Haining Sports Center lies on the waterfront of the Luotang River to the north, neighbours to the Haining Administrative Centre to the east, to the Haining Leather Market to the west and to the Haizhou Hotel to the south.

Completed and put into operation in May 2005, the arena was operated and managed by Zhejiang Hongxiang Group Sports & Cultural Industry Co. Ltd. Many large-scale sports events have been successfully held in the arena, such as the 2005-2007 “Luneng Cup” China Table Tennis Super League, the 2005-2006 “Bubugao” National Men’s Volleyball League, the 2005 Sino-America Men’s Basketball Competition and other 50 plus sports events organised by the sports administration of Haining City, Jiaxing City and the Zhejiang Province.
