TOKUSHIMA (FIBA Asia Championship) - Asian Games silver medalists Qatar and Kazakhstan booked their places in the Round 2 of the Championship, posting their second successive wins in Group 'C', on Sunday.

Qatar left Indonesia way behind in recording an 86-45 win, but coach Edward Andrist sounded discontented.

"I thought we were a little too impatient in our shooting especially after taking a lead," he said, in his post match conference.

"That's exactly a factor I'd worried about even before the match. In games like these, it's bound to happen that we lose focus once we've built up a lead. I thought we could have done a lot better in our outside shooting, especially in the later parts of the match," he went on.

Qatar managed at least an eight point advantage in each quarter break-up scoring, with the best coming up at the end of the second. An early 9-0 spree, with Daoud Daoud impeccable on the paint as well as from the free-throw line, provided the ideal platform for Qatar to march ahead. Daoud continued to perform, sharing top score honours with Erfan Saeed, as Endrist chose to utilize his bench to the maximum extent.

"I thought our defense was far better than yesterday. I can now confidently say defense is what we want to be known for. And in a Championship like this, defense is what will win us the title," he declared.

Indonesian coach was rather modest in his assessment.

"We knew we had no chance against a team like Qatar," said Roring Fictor. "But our purpose of coming here is to learn. We have the SEA Games coming up later this year. Playing against strong teams like these will help us play better at the Games," he added.

Scores
Qatar 86 (Daoud Daoud 14, Erfan Saeed 14, Yassen Musa 12) bt Indonesia 45 (Raka Cocorda 10). Quarterwise: 19-7, 47-19, 70-34.
