VALDIVIA (FIBA Americas Championship for Women) In a game full of ups and downs, Cuba defeated Jamaica 76-62 and passed to the semifinals of the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship for Women played in Valdivia.
Jamaica had added motivation and gave Cuba a hard time during the game as they wanted to win their first game.
The first half ended 38-30 and coach Alberto Zabala gave more time to captain Yayma Boulet, Oyanaisys Gelis and Yamara Amargo who didn't have any difficult in putting the game away.
With this win, Cuba has six points and is in the semifinals and also secured a spot in the World Pre-Olympic Tournament. Now the loser of the USA-Canada game will give them their final spot in the group while the winner between Argentina and Chile will be their opponent in the semis.
