LAS VEGAS (2007 FIBA Americas Championship) - After notching a hard fought win over Canada (80-73) on the first day of the FIBA Americas Championship, Brazil improved to 2-0 in tournament play tonight with a 101-75 victory over Venezuela.

After an almost 48-hour break between games, Brazil briefly showed signs of rust but it only took to the half way point of the first quarter for Brazil to right the ship. Marcelo Machado got Brazil on the right track by scoring 11 of his team high 20 points in the first quarter while going 3-of-4 from three point range.

Brazil held a 43 - 36 lead at the game's halfway mark and was never challenged the rest of the way, leading by as much as 27 in the fourth quarter.

After a slow first half where he was held to just three points, the Phoenix Suns' Leandro Barbosa turned it on and chipped in 12 second half points to help seal the victory for Brazil.

Hector Romero led Venezuela with 21 points which drops to (0-3) in the tournament.

Brazil next plays the Virgin Islands on August 25th and Venezuela again takes the court on August 26th against the Virgin Islands.
