EKATERINBURG (FIBA Women's World League) - The USA Basketball Select Team returned to winning ways on Wednesday with an 81-72 victory over CSKA Moscow in the FIBA Women's World League.

The Americans, who were stunned 79-76 by Lithuanian outfit TEO Vilnius on Tuesday, recovered thanks to healthy contributions from Seimone Augustus (19 points), Katherine Smith (16) and Diana Taurasi (15).

Maria Stepanova poured in 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the losers, with Nicole Powell managing 14 points.

The Americans were unable to get away from their opponents in the first quarter, and were pegged back to 21-21 11 seconds into the second period.

CSKA battled to keep up with their rivals but then forged ahead at 38-33 with a minute remaining in the second quarter.

The lead continued to change hands in an nip-and-tuck encounter, until Augustus put the United States ahead for good by sinking a three-pointer to put her side 47-44 up.

The advantage had been stretched to 61-55 by the end of the third period and extended still further in the final 10 minutes as the Americans took control.
