EKATERINBURG (FIBA Women's World League) - CSKA Moscow came flying out of the traps to destroy Canberra Transact Capitals 99-61 and maintain their formidable start to the Fiba Women's World League.

Just one day after thumping Lithuania's TEO Vilnius 101-57, the Russian giants, widely tipped for success in these championships, once again lived up to their billing by opening a huge 32-14 first-quarter lead.

By the end of the first half that gap had widened to 48-28 and at the onset of the fourth quarter the Russians were cruising at 69-45.

Nicole Kristen Powell was at the forefront of the mauling, sinking 15 points with five rebounds and two assists, while Edwige Lawson-Wade (14 points), Ilona Korstin (13) and Ann Wauters (13) supplemented the assault.

Jessica Elizabeth Bibby led the resistence, claiming 15 points in reply, but she was too isolated on the scoreboard to make a telling difference.

CSKA now go on to face a USA Basketball Select Team side who are desperate to bounce back from their defeat to TEO.
