BRATISLAVA (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Korea boosted their chances of progressing into the knockout stages of the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women with a 93-81 victory over Lithuania.

The Asian side picked up their first win of the eighth-finals stage to leave their Group E rivals with a mountain to climb if they are to progress into the next phase.

Ajeong Kang produced a stunning display to wrack up an amazing 41 points, while Hyejin Park also contributed 15 during the convincing win.

Lithuania provided stern resistance for much of the game, but Dovile Miliauskaite`s 26 points and Laima Rickeviciute`s 20, including 17 rebounds, was not enough to prevent defeat.

It was the European side who started the game the brighter, taking a 10-3 lead within the opening three-and-a-half minutes.

And they managed to maintain their advantage to build a 24-21 lead going into the second period.

Korea started to impose themselves after a shaky start to the encounter and they upped the tempo to take a 44-38 advantage at half-time.

Lithuania shot out of the blocks at the start of the third quarter and reduced the deficit to just a single point before some solid defensive play regained a seven-point advantage for Korea going into the final period.

And they maintained their lead in the closing stages to eventually romp home by a 12-point winning margin.
