BRATISLAVA (FIBA U19 World Championship for Women) - Serbia continued their impressive form in the FIBA U19 World Championship for Women with a 61-49 victory over Sweden.
The Group F leaders maintained their unbeaten record in the eighth-finals stage with a comfortable win to keep rivals Sweden at bay for the majority of the clash.
Maja Miljkovic fired 16 points for the victors, while Jelena Milovanovic also contributed with a further 13.
Louice Halvarsson`s 16-point haul helped keep Sweden in the running until a dominant third period from Serbia all but ended the contest.
It was hard to seperate the two teams during an edgy first quarter which saw Serbia take a 15-11 lead.
The Scandanavians reduced the deficit to just one point before Serbia regained control to take a 28-22 lead going into the half-time interval.
Sweden started the third period in blistering fashion to draw the scores level at 28-28, however, they could not keep up the pressure as some stubborn defending helped Serbia sustain a 46-37 advantage going into the final 10 minutes.
And the lead proved to be too much as they held out to romp home by a 12-point winning margin.
