Date of birth: 21/10/1967

Place of birth: Brasilia

Team 2007-08: Ourinhos (Brazil-CNBF)

Career: BCN/Piracicaba (Brazil-CNBF), Nossa Caixa/Ponte Preta (Brazil-CNBF), DPaschoal/Campinas (Brazil-CNBF), Microcamp/Campinas (Brazil-CNBF), Ulbra (Brazil-RS, 1998), Americana (Brazil-CNBF, 1999-2003), Colchões Castor/FIO/Unimed/Ourinhos (Brazil-CNBF, 2006-08).

A proven winner on the Brazilian scene with six championships, Paulo Bassul has been coaching for almost 20 years.
As an assistant coach to Antonio Carlos Barbosa, he won the bronze medal at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. In 2003, as the coach of the Brazil Under-21 Women National Team which included Karen, Erika and Graziane, he captured a silver medal at the FIBA U-21 World Championship. Logically, the next step was to take over as head coach of the senior side and that’s what he’s been doing since 2007 when he guided the country to bronze at the FIBA Americas Championship in Chile. What is his priority? “For a high-level tournament,” he said, “no one survives without strong defence.” Bassul is not only a coach with tactical or technical knowledge; he is respected for being a scholar of the sport.
