One of the most promising point guards in Korean basketball, Choi.is only 22 years old and has a chance to be a member of the national team set-up for many international tournaments to come.
Choi possesses excellent ball-handling and passing skills, and also offers leadership that Korea desperately need. A wrist injury prevented her from playing at last year’s FIBA Asian Championship.
The year before, she logged a lot of minutes at the FIBA World Championship in Brazil, averaging four points, 3.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds in Korea’s five games. Choi raised eyebrows earlier this year when the
Washington Mystics offered her a contract but failed to lure her to the WNBA. Her reasoning was that Korea’s preparations for the Beijing Games were more important than her own career.
