Career: UB FC Barcelona (Spain-LF, 1999-2003), Perfumerías Avenida (Spain-LF, 2003-06), Dynamo Moscow (Russia-Superleague, 2006-08).
Intensity, passion, intelligence and slyness - that’s what Nuria Martinez brought to Spanish basketball even before her 15th birthday. Martinez made her debut in the Liga Femenina 1, the Spanish first division, at Barcelona some moths after winning the U16 European Championship in 1999 in Romania. Even though her game grew at UB FC Barcelona, she moved to Salamanca and led Perfumerías Avenida to historical achievements. Russia then called and she has been a solid playmaker not only in the Superleague Women at Dynamo Moscow but in Europe. Martinez’s natural-born talent is evident with her impressive ball-handling but another attribute that makes her stand out is her mental acumen. She can anticipate offensive moves of teammates and make excellent passes. Martinez is also a tough defender in one-on-one situations.
