Montañana is without question the best power forward in Spain. After deciding to attend George Washington University, she returned home and has played very well since. In her first EuroBasket last year, she put on a tantalizing display by averaging 11 points and five rebounds per game. Montañana was excellent in a fast game, often releasing early to beat opponents up the floor. She also hit some three-pointers and played excellent defence in the low post against centers and power forwards or on the perimeter against smaller players. This season, Montañana was the top scorer at Perfumerías Avenida where she averaged 14.8 points per game. Montañana cannot be considered a late bloomer because she won a gold medal at the 1998 U18 European Championship.
