Nobody really expected Jaisitis, who was virtually unknown before the competition, to have such an impact at last year's EuroBasket. Before the competition, the 23-year-old Jasaitis was an up-and-coming swingman, who had yet to play in a major event with the national team, . In a matter days, he moved from the end of the bench to the starting five. Against Bulgaria, the last game in Round Robin play, he scored a team-high 17 points, helping secure first place in Group A along the way. His status had changed so dramatically that France, who was playing Lithuania in the quarters, chose to make him the main target on that team. They were right, as Jasaitis, who wasn't ready for this kind of attention, struggled throughout the game, making only two shots in 25 minutes.
This proved an excellent learning experience for Jasaitis, who had a breakthrough season with LR Vilnius this year in the Euroleague. He's probably ready to turn it up a notch with the national team too.
