Career: Nelson Giants (New Zealand-NBL, 2000-02), Manawatu Jets (New Zealand-NBL, 2003), New Zealand Breakers (Australia-NBL, 2003-06), Nelson Giants (New Zealand-NBL, 2004-06).
Mika Vukona was born in Fiji but left his native country at the age of 5 to come to Australia. He is a very solid undersized power forward. At the beginning of his career, he was mostly a defensive player but he has improved his offensive game and was averaging 12.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game this season with the Nelson Giants. He has played with the New Zealand Breakers, in the Australian NBL, since their creation in 2003. This season, he accumulated 5.8 points and 7.5 rebounds. Vukona made his debut with the Tall Blacks in 2005 at the FIBA Oceania Championship but didn't see significant playing time.
But his aggressive style of play and his great rebounding skills may make him a regular member of the National Team in the future.
