Russell Hinder is above all an athlete who started basketball at the age of 15. After spending one year at the University of San Francisco, he transferred to Augusta State in the NCAA second division. Coming back to Australia in 2001, he needed two seasons with the West Sydney Razorbacks to develop his game and become a contributing player. He joined the Hunter Valley Pirates in 2004 and led the team in rebounding the last two seasons.
Despite not being an incredibly talented player, he is a strong defensive specialist who is dedicated to grabbing rebounds and blocking shots. Next season, he will play for Brian Goorjian’s Sydney Kings. This summer will be his first with the National Team.
