Like Jamal Levy, Gomez is one of the much-needed defensive parts on the team. In college, he was one of the main reasons Arkansas managed to hold their opponents under 65 points per game during his senior season. Pretty skinny, Gomez relies on quickness, long arms and smarts to make an impact on defense. These same characteristics explain, in part, why he's such an amazing rebounder.
During his senior year at Arkansas, he once managed to get 12 offensive boards in a game against Georgia in only 26 minutes. Although he's not really an offensive threat, Gomez can hit a few mid-range jumpers to balance the offense.
