Aaron Olson was born in Canada but his mother is from New Zealand. He spent two years at Eastern Washington University and averaged 13.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in his senior year. He then joined his adoptive country in 2001 but played one season in Finland in 2002-03. He won two back-to-back NBL titles with the Auckland Stars in 2004 and 2005 and has been a member of the New Zealand Breakers, in the Australian NBL, since the creation of the team in 2003. This season, he was the most complete player of the team, averaging 17.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
Olson is above all a great shooter and a real threat from beyond the three-point arc. But he is also a gritty defender and a good rebounder. He is also able to handle the ball if necessary.
