Garces is a valuable player who has made a name for himself over in Spain, the most competitive domestic league in the world outside the NBA. An excellent rebounder, Garces uses his impressive frame (112 kg) and his leaping ability to make a difference on the boards. The former NBA journeyman who played for Phoenix and Golden State is an ideal team-mate, ready to do the right thing to help his team win. But he's not the most reliable scorer, as he only has a few moves to get a basket.

Still, Garces makes his comeback to Panama's national team after not being on the squad which qualified for the 2006 FIBA World Championship. Garces is coming off a pretty good season with Pamesa Valencia (9.4 pts et 7.4 rbs in 23 minutes per game), even playing in the final of the Copa del Rey last February.
