Career: Hitachi (Japan-JBL Superleague, 2003-06).
Kei Igarashi will be the starting point guard of the National Team at the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan. He is a fan favourite in Japan for his looks - but also for his game. He will likely assume a leadership role with the National Team in Yuta Tabuse's absence. He was the best Japanese player of the JBL Superleague this season and led the National Team in points and assists at the 2005 FIBA Asia Championship in Doha, Qatar.
He's a lightning quick player who likes to penetrate to the basket. He also possesses excellent ball-handling and passing skills. He has played in the JBL Superleague for three seasons with the Hitachi Sunrockers and led them to the semi-finals this season. He is a two-time All-Star, and the 2006 FIBA World Championship at home will be a good opportunity for him to gain international experience and showcase his talent.
