Career: Iraklis (Greece-ESAKE, 1999-2004), Panathinaikos (Greece-ESAKE, 2004-06).
Has been named the Euroleague's Best Defensive Player for two years in a row. Diamantidis proved his big-game ability in the dramatic semi-final against France last September in Belgrade. His three-pointer just seconds before the buzzer sent Greeks into the Final against Germany and later into seventh heaven with the EuroBasket title.
Diamantidis, who began his career at Iraklis, is one of the best defenders in Europe and has some of the quickest hands in world basketball. A tall point guard who can defend taller players, he is very intelligent and a team player who just does what Coach Yannakis wants for his squad. And Diamantidis also has the ability of dominating a game without scoring a single point by producing 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and, perhaps most surprising, 2 or 3 blocks with his excellent jumping skills.
