Career: Gboko (Nigeria-D2, 1999-00), Dodan Warriors (Nigeria, 2000-01), Vincennes University (USA-Junior College, 2001-03), Washington State University (USA-NCAA, 2003-05), EB Pau-Orthez (France-LNB, 2005-06).
At 23 of age, Jeff Varem is improving every day. After two years of junior college basketball, he spent two good seasons at Washington State University, where he averaged 10.5 points and 7.8 rebounds as a senior. After graduation from WSU, Varem chose French club Pau Orthez because the club is well known for launching young players' careers (Boris Diaw in Phoenix, Mickael Pietrus in Golden State and Johan Petro in Seattle). In France, Varem had the opportunity to play in Euroleague and the French league (5.6 pts and 3.8 rbs in Pro A).
A strong defender with an unbelievable body, he still has to improve his shooting to become a key player. After playing in two African championships, Jeff enters the 2006 FIBA World Championship in Japan with great confidence.
