Hashim Zaidan Zaidan has been the big man on the Qatari National Team for five years. And he will be once again one of the biggest and above all the strongest players on the team despite being only 2.08 m. He finished third in rebounds (8.2) and was the top shot-blocker (2.8) at the 2001 FIBA U19 World Championship in Japan. In a 90-68 loss to Australia, he had dominated David Andersen (2.12 m) and Luke Schenscher (2.13 m) by posting 10 points, shooting 4-for-4, with 8 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

He also competed at the Asian Club Championship and even won the 2003 edition with Al Rayyan. The following season, he moved onto Al Ahli, where he had started his career.
