It was quite an interesting season for Giovannoni, who started back in his former Benetton team and ended up on the other side of Europe, in Kiev. It was his eighth move in six years. His first one was in 1999 when, barley 19, he made the leap from his native Brazil to Spain. He may have been too young to adapt so quickly to the highly competitive Spanish ACB - considered the best national league outside of the NBA. Guilherme struggled for more than two years, and fearing that his young career was on the wrong path he returned to Brazil. He made another try in Europe a year later, and Rimini was a key stop with Giovannoni given playing time and made a crucial part of the team. He responded well and blossomed with his great offensive skills. His outside game remains his biggest asset to this day, but he has pushed himself to drive more to the basket, being pretty successful at it. As he accepted to play a little closer to the basket, his rebounding also has improved.
