Paora Wintana debuted for the Tall Blacks in 2002 and replaced injured Tony Rampton at the 2002 FIBA World Championship. He has not seen significant playing time with the National Team yet. At the beginning of the year, he claimed the silver medal at the 2006 Commonwealth Games with the Kiwis. He has played 9 seasons in the New Zealand NBL, winning the Rookie of the Year award in 1996. He also spent one season in Australia, playing for the New Zealand Breakers in 2003-04.
Winitana is incredibly athletic and possesses a great vertical leap. The crowd likes his spectacular style of play and the variety of his powerful dunks.
