Career: Temple Owls (USA-NCAA, 1996-2000), Philadelphia Sixers (USA-NBA, 2000-01), Atlanta Hawks (USA-NBA, 2000-01), Panathinaikos Athens (Greece-ESAKE, 2001-02), Alicante (Spain-ACB, 2002-03), Golden State Warriors (USA-NBA, 2003-04), Alicante (Spain-ACB, 2003-04), Unicaja Malaga (Spain-ACB, 2004-06).
Sanchez combines with fellow point guard Alejandro Montecchia as two playmakers who you wouldn't look much to on the stat sheet but who were essential to the team's success. "Pepe" is a true point guard who knows how to run a team and adjusts to every moment of the game, always focusing on helping other players shine. Unlike most of the Argentinean players, Sanchez is a cross-culture product, who spent four years in college in Philadelphia (Temple) before trying his luck in the NBA. His European experience only started when he was 24, already five years removed from Argentina.
In the U.S., Sanchez learned to play defence the American way and went on to become one of the best defenders on this Argentinean team. A point guard of great size (1.94 m), Sanchez can help some on the boards and also play out of position from time to time.
