Sam Mackinnon is one of the most experienced players of the National Team as he has already played in two Olympic Games, claiming fourth place in Sydney in 2000. At 30, he has established himself as one of the best players in the NBL, being selected twice to the All-NBL First Team (2000 and 2004). He was still a member of the All-NBL second team this season, averaging 13.9 points, 9.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game with the Brisbane Bullets.
Once the NBL season finished, he flew to Italy to play four games for Rimini in Legadue. Mackinnon is an athletic swingman, able to score either inside or outside. He is also a very valuable defender with good rebounding and shot blocking skills for his position.
