Career: Olimpija Ljubljana (Slovenia-Division 1A, 1997-98), Virtus Bologna (Italy-Lega, 1998-99), Minnesota Timberwolves (NBA, 2000-03), San Antonio Spurs (NBA, 2003-06).
Selected in the first round of the 1998 NBA draft (#17), by the Minnesota Timberwolves.
If you disregard Team USA, rare are the teams that will be able to line up two NBA starters at the center position. There will of course be Serbia-Montenegro with the Magic's Darko Milicic and the Nets' Nenad Krstic. But a second team is Slovenia, which can by all means be proud of its duo of Brezec and Nesterovic. Rasho started as a sweet-shooting forward in his junior days in Olimpija and Partizan Belgrade. After a couple of excellent seasons with Euroleague teams such as Olimpija and Kinder, he was drafted by Minnesota in the NBA. Three solid years earned him a lucrative deal with the Spurs, with whom he has won an NBA championship. Unfortunately, Nesterovic's last two seasons were plagued by injuries and increased competition in the San Antonio's paint. Rasho can bounce back in Japan, where he will be a veteran on a young and hungry Slovenian team.
