Career: Hawkes Bay Hawks (New Zealand-NBL, 1995-97), Auckland Stars (New Zealand-NBL, 1998-2001), Utah Valley State (USA-NCAA Div. 1, 1999), Hawkes Bay Hawks (New Zealand-NBL, 2002-06), OKK Belgrade (Yugoslavia-YUBA, 2002-03), New Zealand Breakers (Australia-NBL, 2003-06).
Paul Henare returned to Hawkes Bay in 2002 after spending 4 seasons with the Auckland Stars and winning two back-to-back NBL titles in 1999 and 2000. He led the NBL in assists in 2001, 2004 and 2005. This season, he played his third season with the New Zealand Breakers, averaging 6.2 points, 3.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists in the Australian NBL. Then he joined National Team coach Tab Baldwin and Pero Cameron at Banvitspor to finish the Turkish season. Back in New Zealand, he finished the NBL season with the Hawkes Bay Hawks.
Henare made his debut for the Tall Blacks in 1998 and has already accumulated a lot of international experience despite his young age. He possesses excellent ball-handling skills and knows how to control the tempo. He is a true playmaker with good passing skills and is a leader on the court.
