Joe Vogel was born in the United States. He attended Colorado State University and is the all-time leading shot-blocker in the school's history. He was selected by the Seattle Supersonics in the second round of the 1996 NBA Draft but has never played in the big league. He came to Lebanon for the first time in 1999. He spent two seasons with Champville (2001-02 and 2003-04) and joined Sporting Al Riyadi in 2004.
He led the club to back-to-back titles the past two seasons and averaged 16.6 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He is a very solid center at both ends of the court. He is a good rebounder and an excellent shot-blocker. But he can also shoot from the perimeter or impress fans with spectacular dunks.
