Career: New Mexico (USA-NCAA Div. 1, 1995-97), Bayamón (Puerto-Rico-BSN, 1996-98), St. Vincent College (USA-NAIA, 1997-98), Varese (Italy-Lega, 1998-2000), Phoenix Suns (NBA, 2000-02), Bayamón (Puerto-Rico-BSN, 2001-02), Roma (Italy-Lega, 2002-03), Milwaukee Bucks (NBA, 2004-05), Málaga (Spain-ACB, 2005-06).

Daniel Santiago was born in the United States but his grandfather was born and raised in Puerto Rico. Santiago attended the University of New Mexico for two years before transferring to St. Vincent College in the NAIA where he averaged 18 points and 9 rebounds. In 1998, he moved to Europe to play for Varese and won the Italian Lega. The following season, he competed for the Euroleague and revealed himself as a solid center, posting 14.8 points and 8.2 rebounds. In 2001, he joined the Phoenix Suns in the NBA but played only three games. The following season, he came back to Italy and had a good season with Roma. He then returned to the NBA and played 55 games in two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks.

This season, he posted 12.9 points and 5.6 rebounds in the Euroleague for Unicaja Malaga. At 30, Daniel Santiago is the uncontested starting center of the national team.
