Career: ASE Strasbourg (France-4th Div., 1999-2000), INSEP (France-3rd Div, 2000-03), LE MANS (France-Pro A, 2003-06).
Was trained in INSEP, France's main basketball player factory… Bokolo is a great athlete with a very good work ethic. Born in Kinshasa, he spent part of his childhood in Belgrade but does not remember it. A fact that didn't prevent his national team fellows, in deep need of outside shooters like the ones trained in former Yugoslavia, to nickname him: "Bokolovic". In the fall of 2004, even if he had an interesting first season in Le Mans (3.9 ppg as an 18-years-old), the fact that Yannick made the final cut of the NT for the Qualifying Round of EuroBasket 2003 was a big surprise. But his refreshing, hard working and fearless attitude impressed the coaching staff. He almost doubled his stats in the French league the following season (7.3 ppg and even 9.1 ppg in ULEB Cup), drawing interest from numerous NBA scouts. Bokolo won the French league with Le Mans on June 18th, to the surprise of most of the French basketball fans.
A great defensive player, Bokolo needs to work on his outside shot to reach the bright future that most people see for him.
