BEIJING (Olympics) – Korea’s Beon Yeonha drilled six three-pointers on her way to a game-high 20 points but Australia overcame the awesome effort on Wednesday to remain unbeaten at the Olympics.

The world champions got 18 points apiece from Suzy Batkovic and Penny Taylor while Lauren Jackson weighed in with 16 in a 90-62 triumph.

The Opals have now whipped Belarus, Brazil and the FIBA Asia champions Korea in an impressive start in Group A, with games still to come against Latvia and Russia – the team that beat in the world title game two years ago.

Park Jungeun’s three-ball put Korea in front at 6-4 midway through the opening quarter, but Jan Stirling’s team then went on a 19-5 tear to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

Beon drilled one of her three-pointers to leave Korea trailing 23-14 at the end of the quarter, and opened the second with another three to cut the deficit to six.

That was as close as the Asian giants got the rest of the way.

By half-time, the Australians were on top 47-33 and the lead ballooned to 73-50 with 10 minutes remaining.

The Aussies cruised home the rest of the way.

As expected, Australia dominated on the boards. They out-rebounded the Koreans 44-25.

Batkovic had 10 of those boards and Jackson six.

Beon missed just once from behind the arc on the night.

Choi Younah was also two of three from long range and finished with eight points, and Jung Sunmin scored 11.

Korea have now dropped to 1-2 with Group A games still to come against Belarus and Latvia.
