LE LOCLE/GENEVA, Switzerland - FIBA, the International Basketball Federation, and Tissot, one of the leading Swiss watch manufacturers from the Swatch Group, have extended their global partnership for the 2013-2016 period.
Tissot will continue its Global Partner association in all main FIBA competitions including the first-ever FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain in 2014. The integrated partnership extends to timekeeping and data services, on which FIBA is delighted to be able to count on.
This new agreement grants Tissot extended marketing rights, including the status of "Official Watch" and "Official Timekeeper" of FIBA as well as the distinctive right to present the MVP and Best Five awards of each FIBA competition.
The partnership underlines Tissot's ever-growing commitment to basketball on a worldwide level. Tissot's initial co-operation with FIBA started in 2008 and has since added French star Tony Parker as one of its main brand ambassadors.
Parker described the renewal as "excellent news for my sport. I am very pleased to see that Tissot continues to support the development of basketball at an international level. Playing for the national team has a very special dimension and the FIBA competitions give a huge boost to the growth of basketball across the globe."
FIBA Secretary General and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member Patrick Baumann commented: "We are very excited to continue our relationship with Tissot, a solid and exciting quality brand that, like ourselves, is based in Switzerland and has strong global ambitions. The partnership with Tissot has delivered great benefits for FIBA in the past and we look forward to jointly making a next step in the new cycle."
Tissot President François Thiébaud said: "We look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with FIBA. Being associated with such an international sport as basketball underlines our dynamic nature and our values of precision and performance. In turn, we will keep rising to the challenge of ensuring that success and victory at that level are firmly rooted in precision and fairness. Offering exclusive timekeeping services and unique designed watches also gives our passionate customers an additional reason to be proud of their commitment to Tissot."
For Tissot, "In touch with your time" is far more than an advertising claim. This phrase expresses the brand's DNA; its proven dedication to being perfectly in tune with the technology and tastes of each era.
