TEHRAN (Iran Super League) - Mahram, Zob Ahan, Petrochimi and Saba Mehr have claimed the top four spots in the Iranian Super League and will now compete in the end-of-season play-offs.
Mahram defeated Zob Ahan 94-92 at home in a close game to clinch first place while Zob Ahan ended up second.
Petrochimi cruised past Towzin Electric, 92-68, but did so without having the support of their fans because of a ban imposed by the I.R. Iran Basketball Federation.
Even with one less game played, Petrochimi are assured of a third-place finish at the end of regular season.
Hosts Gorgan finished fifth after thumping Azad University, who were without Kevin Sheppard.
On Tuesday, Mahram will travel to Mahshar to play their last and postponed game with Petrochimi.
Petrochimi will remain third in the standings no matter what the result.
Play-off ties in the best of three-game formats will tip off on February 16.
Mahram will go up against Saba Mehr in one showdown while Zob Ahan will take on Petrochimi in the other.
In the battle for positions five through eight, Gorgan face Towzin and Azad University clash with A.S. Bond.
Shahr-e Kurd have finished their season in ninth position.
