NZL - Maori Warrior greets U19 Teams

AUCKLAND (FIBA U19 World Championship) – FIBA’s Sport Director Lubomir Kotleba got a very special greet one day before the FIBA U19 World Championship for Men tips off in Auckland, New Zealand. He was welcomed by a Maori warrior in a traditional costume during tonight’s official welcome and dinner at Skycity Hotel.

The welcome which was preformed is called a ‘powhiri’. All participating teams were in attendance.

The tournament, that determines the best basketball nation in the world for boys born in 1990 or later, will start on 2nd July at 10 am local time with the game Iran – USA.

The following games will be televised on www.fibatv.com (all game times are in local time) :

2nd July
12.30 Spain v Syria
17.00 Canada v Australia
20.30 Argentina v New Zealand

3rd July

12.30 Kazakhstan v Argentina
17.00 Australia v Spain
19.30 New Zealand v Croatia

4th July
13.30 Croatia v Argentina
17.00 Canada v Spain
19.30 New Zealand v Kazakhstan

After the rest day on the 5th July there will be two (possibly three) games a day for the next three days (which we cannot yet confirm which games or teams) and then the four Quarter-Finals, the two Semi-Finals and the Bronze Medal and Final games. Stay Tuned!
