VALENCIA (ACB) - Pamesa Valencia’s high-flying forward Victor Claver has decided to declare for the NBA draft that takes place in June.

Claver, 20, also put his name forward for the 2008 draft and trained with several franchises last summer before deciding to withdraw and join Spain’s Olympic squad in training.

He returned to the ACB and had a promising start to this season but suffered a serious knee injury and missed several months of action.

Claver has returned to the Pamesa squad, though, and will soon play with the Valencia outfit in the ACB play-offs.

Pamesa said: “The club states that Victor Claver will not make any statements until the end of the season."

The 2.05m forward is expected to break into the Spain squad this summer, or possibly next if they qualify for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey.

He is the second prominent Spaniard to declare for the draft after DKV Joventut’s 18-year-old playmaker Ricky Rubio.
