VIDNOJE (EuroLeague Women) - Team USA's Sylvia Fowles is believed to have made history last week by becoming the first player to dunk in the EuroLeague Women.

A gold-medal winner with the United States at the Olympics this summer, Fowles slammed one home early in the second quarter of the two-time defending champions' 70-62 win at Beretta Famila in Schio, Italy.

On a star-studded Spartak team that includes fellow USA internationals Sue Bird and Diana Taurasi and Australia center Lauren Jackson, Fowles has averaged 18.5 points per game - second best in the EuroLeague.

She is also dominating the boards, pulling down an average of 11.5 - also second in the competition.

Basketball fans who rooted for 'Big Syl' when she played at Louisiana State University won't be surprised when learning of Fowles' dunk in Europe.

She dunked last season as a senior with the Tigers against Louisiana-Lafayette.
